Apple may be bringing it’s iTunes cloud based music streaming in iOS 5. But Amazon isn’t sitting around twiddling their thumbs.
Amazon had recently launched Amazon Cloud Drive where they let you purchase, store and stream music from anywhere with an Internet connection. Earlier, if you tried to access the Amazon Cloud Drive from an iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad with Mobile Safari, you’d just get an error.
Over the weekend, Amazon had turned on iOS Mobile Safari compatibility without much fanfare.
From Techcrunch,
Of course, this implementation is still not as good as it is on Android, where Cloud Player is part of a native app. But if Amazon just did a little web work and made the web-based player optimized for the iPhone and iPad, it would certainly be very useable on a regular basis. Uploading, however, still requires Flash. But I assume most people are doing that from their computers anyway.
Apple’s implementation should be built into iOS making it feel even more natural but if you are a fan of Amazon cloud drive, you can use it with Mobile Safari on iPhone, iPod Touch or Apple iPad now.
