After the fake iPhone 4 we featured recently, it’s now time checkout an Apple iPad 2 knockoff.
If you didn’t want to shell out $499 for the iPad 2 WiFi model, the resourceful Chinese have built an iPad 2 knockoff that runs Android.
Of course, this imitation iPad 2 won’t have nearly the same build and quality Apple employs in building their hardware.
This iPad 2 knockoff sports the same 9.7 inch 1024×768 screen but it is not the capacitive screens Apple uses. Instead this knockoff uses a resistive screen which is more suited for the use of a stylus.
It has Wi-Fi connection and a front and rear camera. The front camera is placed in a corner whereas it is the center in the iPad 2. The metal enclosure looks identical to iPad 2 without the Apple logo but is probably made out of a cheaper material.
They have also cheaped out on the processor running a 800Mhz slower one. Also, they have cut the memory down to 256MB from iPad 2’s 512MB to cut costs.
Even though this fake iPad 2 has an iOS 4.x skin on Android, it is running the Froyo 2.2 version. Most new android tablets are running the Honeycomb 3.0 firmware.
Costing 700 yuan or rough $110, you may be able to buy this from a Chinese vendor. However, you can buy an Android iPhone 4 at Sears.com!
Would be willing to forego the Apple quality and branding for a cheap iPad 2 knockoff?
In the meantime, are you waiting for the iPad 3 release date and iPhone 5 release date? So are we!
