I have always kept a watchful eye on anything that reads Android on iPhone 4. For those who like the Android’s hackable nature and iPhone 4′s near-perfect hardware specs (forget antennagate), wouldn’t running Android on iPhone 4 be the most wonderful marriage. Ever?
So, when I came across a news piece about Android running on iPhone 4 it turned out to be something else.
Android on iPhone 4
A chinese gadget maker has made an impressive iPhone 4 knockoff that looks near identical to the original Apple iPhone 4 with the looks. Only difference is that there is Android running on ‘iPhone 4′ here.
The phone is called GooApple and has the same form factor as the real iPhone 4 measuring at 9.3mm in thickness! GooApple 3G is running Android with an iOS theme! In fact, it is really incredible to see how much effort has went into skinning Android to look just like iOS.
Until you the see the Android’s window shade notification drawer come down, you can’t even tell it is Android. They have even copied the iOS dialer down to the pixel. This phone could make phone calls, send/receive SMS messages and from the video even has the front facing camera working.
GooApple 3G has to be one of the best iPhone knockoff’s I have ever laid eyes on. Even though imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I wonder how Apple will react to this blatant violation of every legal rights they have with iPhone 4 and iOS. GooApple.com website appears to be in chinese and it doesn’t seem to have any pricing information or availability date.

However, when translated with Google Translate, the GooApple 3G phone comes out as “Valley Fruit 3G” phone. And here are the features listed
- Google Custom iOS
- 5 Megapixel auto focus camera
- 3G / WiFi hotspot
- GPS
- 3.5 multi touch capacitive touchscreen
- high definition screen
Check out the following video to see GooApple 3G in action.
If this Android on iPhone 4 ever comes out on eBay for a killer price, I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on it. Just for $hits and giggles.
In the meantime if you know of a way to run Android on iPhone for real, please let us know in the comments.
