It’s been 34 months since the App Store opened it’s doors and there is an unofficial estimate that the App Store just crossed the 500,000 apps milestone.
This unofficial piece of data comes from Chomp, 148 apps & Chillingo. They have created an awesome infographic on how the App Store got to the half a million apps mark.
They have also created a 500K Apps Facebook Page wth the infographic posted there. Here are a couple of parts from the huge infographic.

The actual number of apps in the App Store right now is about 400,000 apps due to withdrawals, replacements, etc. Compare this to the 300,000 apps in the Android App Store that was announced in the 2011 Google I/O conference.

Of the 400,000 apps, there are atleast 75,000 iPad apps in the App Store. With more and more developers joining the iOS developer community worldwide, it won’t be long before this number hits the 1 million mark.
Anyone care to make a guess here?
