As many of our readers know, we are proud parents of a boy and he is going to be 1 month old this week.
As anyone with a kid would know besides the joy of being a parent there are also a lot of things to keep track of with an infant.
A newborn child needs to be breastfed or bottle fed every 2-4 hours. If breastfed, they need to be given Vitamin D drops every day. You have to keep track of the number of times they peed and pooped to make sure everything is A ok with them.
Baby Geek iPhone app (iTunes) is one app that can track them all and more. The app let’s you keep track of various data points about your child and analyze it with charts.
You can quickly see how many feedings per day is he/she is averaging per day, week, etc. You can track the number of hours the infant is sleeping and also see how their sleep habits change over time. Our son loved to stay awake between 2 am and 6 am. Luckily that is now changing to normal hours.
Baby Geek let’s you track numerous events like bathed, bottle fed, changed diaper, cleaned ears, trimmed nails, haircut, meal, milestone, temperature reading, etc.
Events has a nice timer option that you can start when you start to breastfeed or bottle feed and stop it when you are done. If you can’t hit the timer, the app let’s you manually enter the duration yourself which is really handy.
You can set audible alarms for various things to get notified when it’s time check the diaper or for a feed or if it’s time for a medicine.
The app has all the little bells and whistles like Express milk manager which can track your expressed milk and guesstimate expiry dates.
You can also chart your child’s weight, height and head size and see it in a graph. It also lets you store your immunization schedule and wellness visits with the doctor. You can store your questions for the doctor in the app and pull it out to ask all the questions you have when you are at the pediatrician’s office.
When your child is old enough for toilet training, the app can track the number of accidents so you can see improvements.
Baby Geek has to be the best $0.99 I have spent on an app for our newborn and the only one so far since it meets every one of our needs.
With the app being an universal app, you get the app that works on both the iPhone and iPad for just a buck! And for homes with multiple iPhones or care givers, you can email stats to one another or even sync the data between the iOS devices.
