Thinnest Stand for iPhone and iPod Touch

I watch a lot of you tube videos and video podcasts with my iPhone 3GS. And I have been looking around for a nice little stand. I even gave a shot at making my own iPhone paper dock but failed miserably. It’s not that hard if you find the right paper. Anyways, I digress.

So in my quest for finding a nice (yet cheap) stand, I came across a self-proclaimed Thinnest Stand for iPhone and iPod Touch – iBend.

When I received it, I really was blown away by the ingenuity of it. It is made of a nice flexible plastic like material cut with 2 grooves at the top.

It comes in 2 in a nice little package glued to a Hallmark like card.

All you need to do is, just bend the sheet a little and put your iPhone in the grooves and set it on the table. Lo and behold, it holds the iPhone fantastically. Weighing less than a gram, this has to be the most portable stand for an iPhone ever made!

A package of 2 for the black & white series costs $4.99 and the new Artist series with colorful stands costs $7.99. Here is a video of iBend in use as well

This is the most affordable, portable, elegant stand I can ever ask for. I love it as it is no bother to carry it around.

It is a tad taller to stick it into my wallet without damaging it. So, I just put it in the inside of DLO Jam Jacket I use on my 3GS and slip the case on my iPhone. This way, I always have an iPhone stand anytime I need it!

In fact, I can rest my iPhone with the DLO case on iBend and it holds it fine!

DIY: Super Macro Your iPhone Camera With DVD Lens

Do you have a cheap DVD player sitting idle after you bought your Blu ray DVD player?

You could now rig up the DVD lens to use it as a Super macro lens for your iPhone!

DIYPhotography.net has a great post on how to take out your DVD player lens and use it as a Super Macro lens for iPhone.

Heed to the usual warnings that go with such DIY (do it yourself) projects. Like, powering off your DVD player before you put your hands in there.

The project itself is simple enough that the toughest part (if that) is getting the DVD lens out.

The article actually can be applied to any cell phone but here it’s all about the iPhone!

DIY iPhone – iPod Touch Paper Dock

Are you a Do-it-yourself (DIY) fan and like to take charge of making things for yourself? Even if you are not, this could be your first!

You can make a paper iPhone/iPod Touch dock or stand with this easy to follow tutorial.

Dessinemoiunobjet has put together a neat design for a DIY dock for your iPhone on a PDF. You can make your own dock in a few steps

Print the template in a heavy (220-270gm) A4 paper
Cut and fold according to the instructions in the template
Voila!

It is that simple and you will be proud of yourself in making this cool looking dock. If you have multiple colored papers, it looks even better!
