While the Mint.com has been very useful it has been a little slow to add new features. But, they have just added some really nice ones.

Add New Accounts

This is going to be incredibly useful to add and fix financial account information without having to go to the website.

Search Transactions

Now, we can search for transactions that we want to look up easily.

Mint iPhone app has become an indispensable personal finance tool for me. Earlier the app made it possible to edit transaction details so I can easily categorize it, edit names, etc.

If you have looked at the Mint.com website and wasn’t convinced, the power of having all your finances up-to-date in your iPhone could be a powerful motivator to try it again.

One place Mint iPhone app falls short for me is to remind me about upcoming bills.

Another personal finance app I am yet to review is PageOnce PRO. And this is the app I am using alongside Mint now to fill that gap.

I was using Google Calendar recurring reminder’s to alert me of upcoming bill due dates. But, I still had to login to each billing account and determine how much I owed for the month and possibly update Google Calendar with the amount due.

PageOnce Bills iPhone app has solved this problem for me. I can add all my bills into PageOnce Bills iPhone app and it neatly organizes and shows me all the bills with due dates and the amount due. Like Mint, once you enter your billing credentials, PageOnce automatically updates your transactions, balances, due dates requiring no manual entry.

You can add various kinds of accounts

• Checking account
• Savings account
• Credit Cards
• Mortgage
• Utility Bills
• 401K
• Investment accounts
• Car insurance

In fact, PageOnce Bills also neatly categorizes bills into different sections such as Household, Communications, Entertainment, etc.

I highly recommend trying out this app and Mint iPhone app as they can be really valuable personal finance assistants on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Once you start using it, make sure you go to Settings and set up a passcode lock so anyone picking up your iPhone is not able to access your financial details. In case you lose your iPhone, you can deactivate your mobile profile by logging in to PageOnce.com website.

Square iPhone app that supports this is now available in the App Store. It is a free app to download.

Square works with a tiny card reader that plugs into the headphone jack on the iPhone. And it takes finger signature on the iPhone touchscreen, generates email or SMS receipts, calculates sales tax and comes with an online accounting dashboard to keep track of sales.

Square was especially designed for the iPhone but now widely available for Apple iPad as well as Android mobile devices.

Square is sending the card reader for free for anyone who signs up for an account now.

The usage looks pretty simple whether you use the card reader or enter details manually. However, when you use the card reader you are charged a 2.75% +15c fee and when you enter manually (cash) it is 3.25% +15c. It is similar to Paypal in terms of fees but the convenience is unbelievable.

Also, there is a transaction limit of $100 per transaction and $700 weekly limit. But they are saying they working on increasing these limits in the coming weeks.

I think this could be a revolutionary way to collect payments for various reasons as long as the service is secure with the financial information.
