I am officially an Instagram addict like so many others in the fast growing community. I think I am about to post my 250th picture there (you can find me a topiphone).

For such a popular service, Instagram is just available on the iPhone and the founders haven’t decided on their web presence. But, the cool part is that they have opened up their APIs to other developers and we are seeing some cool services springing out of it.

Recently, we wrote about a service called Printsgram that lets you print Instagram photos. Another service is webstagram that lets you view Instagram online!

Now, I just came across another cool service called Copygram.

If you can’t guess from the name, Copygram lets you download your Instagram photos to your hard drive.

At Copygr.am, you just provide your Instagram id and email address to download your ‘archive’. You will  receive an email with a link to download your own ‘archive’.

As long as the photos are public, you can pretty much download anyone’s photos from Instagram profile.

Copygram has also teamed with Snapfish and lets you order analog 4×4” prints.

Another similar service that let’s you download Instagram photos is Instaport. If you are wondering how to post your Instagram photos to Facebook, wonder no more.

The popularity of this app is just mindblowing considering there is no android Instagram yet!

Granted, it won’t have the professional quality and effects that a DSLR camera and lens can provide. But, it is still an amazing feat when you consider it is just a smartphone.

As much as you may like your iPhone 4, would you let someone shoot your entire wedding with just iPhone 4? Even if the iPhone 5 had a 8MP camera and dual LED flash, would you still do it?

However, there are precious moments that go by before I can slide the lock open and launch the camera app and start taking pictures.

One of the coolest features for me in iOS 5 is the quick access iOS 5 lockscreen camera icon. You can just tap the camera icon in iOS 5 lockscreen to quickly launch camera and take a picture.

I wish I had the camera lock button in iOS 4 so I can take pictures instantly.

An iOS jailbreak developer, FilippoBiga, heard my thinking (or so I would like to think) and has developed a free cydia tweak – CameraLock.

Once installed, this tweak adds the iOS 5 lockscreen camera icon in iOS 4.x! As you can see it added a little camera icon by the lock slider. I just tap that to start taking pictures.

You can also tweak the CameraLock behavior by going into Settings –> CameraLock –> Here you can toggle Always show, Don’t Lock Back, and Hide Slider Label.

If you enable ‘Don’t Lock Back’, the device won’t be locked after you quit the Camera app. This could be useful if you edit or share a photo as soon as you take it.

There is also a setting to Bypass Passcoce. Enabling that will not ask you for a passcode when launching the camera.

You can also select a camera app of your choice from the list – Camera (stock), Camera+, Hipstamatic, Instagram, QuickPix, Camera Genius, Camera Plus Pro, and ProCamera.

Bonus tip: If you have Activator installed in iOS 4, you can assign an action to your lockscreen to launch any camera app. For eg. I swipe left on the lockscreen status bar to launch camera quickly.

Now, with a free service called Printsgram, you can print your Instagram masterpieces in a gallery in different sizes.

Here’s how you create your print.

1. Sign in with your Instagram login into printsgram.com
2. Choose from various sizes – A4 Poster (free), A3 Poster (free), Big Poster (free), Photo Cubes (free), Stickers (free). A3Poster and Big Poster could jump to $1.99 each.
3. Select pictures for your layout by dragging and dropping from a film strip of your Instagram pictures on the bottom
4. Set a title and Create
5. Save your output as a PDF. You can print it with your own printer or take it to a printer so you can frame it.

I just created this A4 poster with my own favorites and will be hanging it in my office wall.The bigger sized A3Poster and Big Poster are free right now. I am not sure when it could go up to $1.99 each. So, I just created 2 more in those sizes as well.

With my iPhone 4 being my main walk around camera I have been looking for a way to do time lapse videos.

I couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled on a fantastic free app that lets even the most uninitiated (me) to get some amazing time lapse footages.

Motion Pics is an amazing little free iPhone app that lets you create iPhone time lapse videos like a pro! I have been having a lot of fun creating time lapse videos with my iPhone 4.

Once you launch the app, you just set up a few numbers.

• Number of Frames
• Seconds between frames
• Seconds before start
• Playback frame rate

Based on what numbers you set, you can see how long the recording will take and how long the resulting video playback time will be.

As you can see in the screenshot, I selected 150 shots at 5 second interval with 5fps. This resulted in a recording of 12.5 mins with a 30 sec playback time. For video like quality you want a 15-30 fps with higher being better.

Once you have set the parameters, just hit Next and tap Record. This works best when you have your iPhone sitting still somewhere.

As the time lapse pictures are taken, you can see how many pictures are left and a countdown between each frame.

Once the pictures are all done, the app saves the time lapse movie in your camera roll. That’s it. You can record videos in both landscape and portrait orientations.

Of course, doing this for prolonged periods of time will drain your battery as the app leaves the screen running. The app processes your frames in real time as the pictures are taken. This results in the movie being ready as soon as the shots are all fired. It is best if you did this with the iPhone plugged to a power source.

Here are a couple of my iPhone 4 time lapse video attempts with the Motion Pics app. I love watching storm clouds racing past my work window. With this app, I am able to catch a few here.

With the auto posting feature in the app, I have been posting my Instagram pictures to my personal Facebook wall. I wanted to start posting some pictures to our TiR Facebook page right from the Instagram app. And it turns out it is pretty easy.

Here is how to do it

1. Go to Sharing settings via the Profile tab

2. Tap on Facebook option. If you already hooked up your Facebook account, it will show Wall (Default) as in the screenshot. If not, go ahead and sign in and authorize the app.

3. Now, tap the Wall (Default) option arrow to see all the Facebook pages you administer. Select the one you want to publish to.

That’s it!

Enjoy posting your Instagram pictures to your Facebook page now.

Bing iPhone app is a stellar example of how well Microsoft can create iOS apps. Now, there is a new testament to this fact with the PhotoSynth iPhone app.

PhotoSynth app lets you create panoramic photos interactively and without fuss. It is as easy as it gets. You can now get 360 degree shots of any place you are at with such an ease.

You just launch PhotoSynth app and start capturing images around the room. As you move your camera slowly around you, the app is intelligent enough to align what you are seeing and start grabbing photos as you go. You can move your iPhone up, down, left or right to grab a series of images.

The app offers interactive capture which means that you can see what you are capturing as you are doing it. Since you can do 360 degree movements, you can capture ‘Full Sphere’ panoramas.

If you are shooting in an area of varying brightness in scene, you can lock your exposure (in Settings) so your images look even as you go around.

Once the app finishes processing your image you can share with the world on Bing Maps, Facebook, Photosynth.net or save it to your camera roll. This image is available for any app that can process it too.

PhotoSynth makes capturing panoramic iPhone photos simple and fun. It is a must have in your photography iPhone apps folder.

You just have to follow this steps:

1. Open Image Blender
2. Tap the left bottom square to select your base image. The base image resolution will be the resolution of the result image..
3. After choosing your base image, select the top image.
4. Move the slider all the way to the right.
5. Save the result.

The images in your camera roll will be the top image with the base image’s resolution!

Base Image ( 1536x2048 / 1.86MB )

Top Image ( 768x1024 / 407KB )

Slider all the way to the left and don't change the default blend mode..

Result image ( 1536x2048 / 0.99MB )...not bad!

A good idea is to make a 3MP (or more) transparent PNG and upload it in your camera roll and have it as your base image.
