We have DirecTV for cable at home and have loved the ability to record shows to our DVR from our DirecTV account in the web from wherever we are.
This is great as we can record favorite programs that we might miss when we are not home and don’t have to worry about forgetting to program the DVR.
DirecTV iPhone app makes this super easy. Here are some of the features listed in the App Store
- Search for any television show up to 14 days in advance.
- Browse programs by channel or date & time.
- Access program information instantly, including description, length and rating.
- Record shows by a single episode or entire series.
- Program Pay Per View movies to be recorded and ready to watch any time.
- Record to any DIRECTV DVR in your home.
- Browsing functionality is available to everyone.
- Recording functionality is available to DIRECTV customers only.
- DIRECTV customers must have a residential home account registered on directv.com to access recording functionality.
- Available for customers in the USA only
- Requires DIRECTV PLUS DVR (models R15, R16, R22), DIRECTV PLUS HD DVR (models HR20, HR21, HR22, HR23) or TiVo® Series 2 receivers with 6.4a software.
I love the ability to just access the show timings and when I am couch surfing with my iPhone, I find it easier to look up future show listings for a channel with my iPhone than the on-screen menu which blocks the running full screen program.
Things I’d like to see in the future versions:
- Ability to favorite channels and sync it to DVR
- Ability to save searches
- Ability to check my subscription package – upgrade/degrade options
- Ability to pay bills – check account balance
What other features would you like to see in the DirecTV app?
