Droid does.
But, does Droid really deserve the Gadget of the Year award from Times magazine’s annual awards?
Times Magazine published the list of Top 10 of Everything and picked Motorola Droid just released on Verizon network as the winner for their Gadget of the Year award.
Apple’s iPhone 3GS comes in 4th place The Droid, Nook and Dyson Air Multiplier. This is shocking at best.

Android has made great strides in the last year and Motorola’s Droid is by far their best gadget for the Android platform.
But, does it really deserve the best gadget of the year award? After all, they just managed to play catch up to iPhone 3GS functionality without a single groundbreaking feature that is new to the smartphone world. A better screen resolution and a physical keyboard (that most people deem as bad) are the key advantages over iPhone 3GS.
I am really glad that the Android platform is picking up and would love to see Google to give Apple some kickass competition. Competition is good news for consumers. Us.
But, Android app platform is still in its infancy compared to the iPhone App store ecosystem. The iPhone 3GS is powerful not because of its hardware specs by any means. It’s the App Store behind the iPhone 3GS that makes it such a powerful, versatile and hands down the best gadget of the year. IMHO.
Brad at RantsandStuff has a nice post titled Why Droid on Verizon is better exactly?
I don’t consider myself a iPhone fanboy. I do like the innovation and technology that has changed the way I interact with the Internet and turned the smartphone world upside down.
In fact, I love, use and write about Open source software a lot. And I certainly didn’t post this to start a Android vs iPhone flamewar.
