Facebook released their latest updated in version 3.2 with the new Places feature and support for background uploading for photos & video. They followed up with a bug fix with version 3.2.1 very quickly.
However, after updating to Facebook 3.2.1 I was not able to login. Someone on Twitter suggested that there could be a possible issue with BiteSMS on jailbroken iPhone’s. So, I uninstalled BiteSMS and I was able to login to Facebook after a reboot.
I checked BiteSMS forums this morning found a post there. This fix involves a little getting dirty with the files in iPhone.
Until we can put out another release in the next few days containing the fix, here’s what you can do yourself to fix the issue:
Replace the file /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/biteSMSsb.plist with the one you download from http://cydia.bitesms.com/biteSMSsb.plist
REBOOT not respring.
Note: For some users Facebook often does not work in WiFi, so be sure to try your 3G connection instead, as this is not related to biteSMS.
Note: We plan on sending out Release 4.99 on Monday to BigBoss for hosting for those users who are not familiar with modifying files.
As they are suggesting, if you are unfamiliar or wary of messing with files on your iPhone, they are releasing an update on Monday in Cydia and you could just wait for that.
Alternatively, iPhone in Canada has posted a tweak where you just need to turn off a setting in SBSettings. You could give that a try as well.
Let us know in the comments if you were successful in doing one of the above.
Update 8/23/10: Facebook just released version 3.2.2 that fixes this login issue. Enjoy!
