Finding Wi-Fi hotspots with iPhone

I’m sure you are excited so much about the Wi-Fi capability of the shiny new iPhone and can’t wait to get on the web with your phone while you are everywhere just showing off.

You can get on the web with either AT&T’s EDGE network which you get unlimited access with any of the iPlans or use Wi-Fi. But, EDGE network is supposedly slow as a snail on a slippery wall. So, Wi-Fi is the way to go for your web needs on the iPhone if you can get access to it.

MacWorld has an excellent roundup on all options available with Wi-Fi. A few notable ones being

  • Sites to locate free Wi-Fi hotspots like JIWire and Wi-Fi FreeSpot.
  • A low cost/free grassroots Wi-Fi network called FON network.
  • Large number of public libraries.

    Thanks for sharing these links. I have only just got my hands on an iPhone and am now making my own custom application for tracking service calls which will be linked through to our office. Being able to find free wifi access through the phone will make life much easier.
