Frash Brings Flash to iPhone [jailbreak]

Steve Jobs may not allow Flash on iPhone but that didn’t stop the jailbreak community from bringing Flash to iDevices.

With the jailbreakme jailbreak, jailbreaking an iPhone has never been easy. Now, enabling Flash on iPhone is just as easy.

In an jailbroken iPhone (or iPod Touch or iPad), launch Cydia and search for ‘Frash‘. Install it and another extension called ‘SBSettings for Frash Toggle‘.

How to Install Frash?

  1. Launch Cydia
  2. Tap on Manage
  3. Tap on Sources
  4. In top right, tap Edit
  5. In top left, tap Add
  6. Now add the repo http://repo.benm.at/
  7. Tap on Add Source
  8. Tap on Done
  9. Search for Frash and install it

Frash runs as a background process in iPhone. Once installed, just go to a page with Flash – I went to RockApp pages with Flash ads. As you see in the first image, you will see a gray block with the word ‘Flash’ Just tap it to load Flash.

You can see the second image with the Flash ad playing. I didn’t have great luck playing flash based videos but any site with Flash for navigation or start page liek photographer’s websites played the Flash content without any problems.

You can disable Frash easily with the SBSettings Frash toggle and enable it only when you need it as it may not be conducive to long battery life. After all thats the main reason Steve Jobs cites for not allowing Flash on iPhone.
