What names come to mind if you think of a dictionary name?
Merriam-Webster was probably one of them. Today, you can get the Merriam-Webster Dictionary HD app for FREE.

Personally, I just use Google search iPhone app as my dictionary app. However, if you are a word geek and like to browse through words and meanings Webster iPad app is a perfect companion for the following reasons unique to an iPad app.
- Voice Search
- Synonyms & Antonyms
- Example Sentences
- Audio Pronunciations
- Word of the Day
- NEW for iPad: Scrolling Index – lets you browse the entire dictionary
- Recent History – lets you keep track of the words you’ve looked up
The ability to hear pronunciations and looking up history of words I recently came across can be a great help while preparing for exams like GRE, TOEFL and GMAT.
Merriam-Webster iPhone app is also available for free and has most of these features as well.
If you are looking for the Oxford version of the dictionary, you can find them here
