Google Goggles came to Android phones in December and poor iPhone owners had to wait almost a year to see this on iOS. We see how it is, Google!
Google Goggles basically lets you search by taking pictures with Google Mobile iPhone app. Google Mobile app has been my go to search app especially while driving as I can search with voice and it can give me results based on my location by just tapping local.
Now, I can search by pointing my camera at stuff and see what it is. The Google Mobile app has gotten a camera icon right beside the mic icon. Just tap that and point your camera and take a picture.
The app will analyze the picture and give you results based on what it found in the picture. The technology behind this is simply amazing as Google’s servers instantly compares your picture against bazillions of pictures they have and match it to possible stuff.

I was home last night so i just pointed my camera at a magazine near me and set Goggles to work and the results wasn’t bad. It recognized the words Outdoor Photographer and brought up a book with the same title. Pretty neat!

Google says it works great for landmarks, logos and covers of books, DVD and games. Goggles is only enabled only for English-speaking users at the moment and since it needs an auto-focussing camera it is supported only on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
