Handsfree Windshield Mount for iPhone 4 and 3GS

One thing I am still getting used to with my iPhone 4 is using it optimally while driving my car. Our car has a audio-in which I use often by plugging my iPhone and listening to Pandora via car’s speakers. But, there is no real hold for the iPhone while I am turning or breaking hard, etc. And I hate it when its tossing around.

So, I started looking for windshield mounts for my iPhone 4 and Shriya’s iPhone 3GS.

Kensington makes a wonderful accessory just for this purpose. In fact, the Kensington Quick-Release Car Mount Handsfree Windshield Mount for iPhone 4 and 3GS comes with a windshield as well as a vent-mount. It has a nice flexible arm that lets me insert and remove the iPhone with just one hand. It has a cable holder so I can keep charging the iPhone as I am using it on the mount. This is fantastic for using the iPhone as a GPS and keeping the battery charged up.

The mount cradle can move between portrait and landscape modes so you can use it however you like. This Kensington mount works for both iPhone and iPod Touch.

One thing to note about using the iPhone 4 with this mount is that if you use it without a case, it will slide out when there is a bump in the road. I use my iPhone 4 in a Griffin case so it sits nicely in the mount without falling.

You can buy the Kensington K39256US Quick-Release Car Mount for iPhone and iPod touch–Compatible with iPhone 4 (Black) Handsfree Windshield Mount for iPhone 4 and 3GS for $10.99 in Amazon.com (eligible for free shipping).

Great write up. The iPhone is truly revolutionary and I don’t like being without it. This time last year I had jumped in a pool with my iPhone and it was dead. I had to wait 10 days before I was able to buya new one. The phone I had was a cheap go phone. I really love all the apps that can be downloaded to the iPhone. The best part about the iPhone to me is the ability to check emails on the fly. Thanks for the information.
