A little background on SHSH blobs – Apple signs your device with these SHSH blobs for the current iOS firmware so you can upgrade your device with iTunes.
Sometimes you may want to downgrade to an older iOS firmware. But, you can’t do that unless you had saved your SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella or Cydia (after jailbreak).
iH8sn0w recently announced that he was working on a secret project – which he now has revealed as a tool called iFaith.
iFaith is unique as it can save your SHSH blobs straight to your device for any old iOS firmware without having to have Apple sign it. This eliminates that narrow window you usually have to get this saved before Apple stops signing it.
At the moment, iFaith is available for Windows only and a Mac OS X version is in the works.
How to Save SHSH Blobs with iFaith?
- Download iFaith for Windows
- Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and Run iFaith
- Click on ‘Dump SHSH blobs’ option
- Click Proceed and Let’s Go
- Follow the on screen instructions to go into DFU mode
- Hold power and home button for 10 seconds
- Release power button while continue to hold the home button for 10 more seconds
- You should now be in DFU mode - As soon as the DFU mode is detected, iFaith starts to dump your SHSH blobs
- You can save the SHSH blobs to your computer. iFaith also saves it on the server for you so you can get to it later from a different machine.
iH8sn0w is popular in the jailbreak community for his jailbreak tools like sn0wbreeze, f0recast, etc.
