So, you want to switch your iPhone from AT&T to Verizon. We won’t ask why. I am sure you have your reasons.
You are probably terrified of that idea because of the gynormous early termination fee you would have to pay AT&T.
Don’t worry.
I just came across an article on Money Talk News on how you can switch your iPhone from AT&T to Verizon for FREE!
The article basically condenses down to the following steps
- Pay the early termination fee (ETF) to AT&T ***
- Buy a new iPhone 4 from Verizon
- Jailbreak and unlock your old iPhone 4
- Sell your unlocked AT&T iPhone 4 on eBay or Craigslist.
That’s it. But, the sooner you put your iPhone 4 on sale, the better rate you are going to get. The reason being a lot of iPhone 4’s are going to end up in eBay once the Verizon iPhone comes out on Febraury 10.
How to Get out of AT&T Contract Without Paying Anything
*** As Rob from Today in iOS points out in his recent podcast, there is a way for you to get out of AT&T contract without paying a dime. I am not sure if this is ethical but I have heard it works.
The trick is to use your data to the max. If you are on unlimited data plan and jailbroken just download movies and files or whatever continuously on 3G. Do this as much as you can. If you are not jailbroken, then stream video like Netflix 24/7 for a week or two.
if you are a limited data plan, find out where you are roaming and reach your data limit in roaming areas. Be mindful of your data usage though.
You will receive a warning from AT&T that your account will be canceled if you continue to do so. Exactly what you need. Keep at it and you will be eventually kicked off AT&T. You don’t pay the ETF.
Of course, this takes time and may not work for everyone.
Also, check out the Verizon iPhone FAQ if you have other questions.
