iBooks 1.3 Adds Read-Aloud Feature for Children’s Books

I am using iBooks more and more to read children’s books to my 7 week old son.

The latest iBooks 1.3 update has added an awesome new feature that could be fun for the kids. With select children’s books from the iBookstore, you can help you children learn to read as a real narrator reads the book to your kid. In some books, it even highlights the word as it is read.

With the new Read-Aloud feature, kids can use the iBooks themselves and learn to read with the auto-narration.

Even though I prefer reading it to my son myself, but I can see this being useful when I am either at work or out mowing the lawn or something.

The latest iBooks update has also made it so enhanced books with audio or video included in the book starts playing automatically.

Another goodie in the update is it fixes the issue where iBooks becomes unresponsive when it opens a very long book and the rare occurrence when it displays the same page twice.

If you know of a new book with this new read-aloud feature, let us know in the comments. We’ll add some links to them for others looking for it.
