Yesterday, Best Buy started selling iPhone 3G as the first independent seller. iPhones were sold strictly through Apple Stores and AT&T stores after the iPhone 3G launch.
With the iPhones being already subsidized, I am not sure about the profit margin for Best Buy in selling iPhones. I think this must have trickled after they started selling Macbooks in Best Buy.
Best Buy also released an iPhone 3G buyers guide. In that guide it shows some cool offers for iPhone accessories and it also contains the AT&T plan details.

As you can see in the above ad page, Best Buy is pushing a lot of accessories and probably hoping to make their profit in selling iPhones through these as there’s not much margin in iPhones themselves. And the accessories are all in the $100 range and that should give them a nice boost in sales margins.
Also, their GeekSquad wing is offering iPhone Configuration package including email setup for $29.99.

It will be interesting to see how many iPhones Best Buy can sell. In fact, a friend of ours just bought one from Best Buy yesterday just because they had a Best Buy gift card they hadn’t used.
