We just went into great depths covering the current rumors surrounding the iPhone 5 release date. There is a new one around the iPhone 5 launch date now.
9to5Mac is reporting that one of their sources has some interesting information regarding the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S being launched in September 2011.
- The next generation iPhone has reached the final testing stage (aka “AP” stage [Thanks,Chronic!]) and is now being carried around by high level Apple and carrier executives.
- Although this has been assumed since the no-iPhone-at-WWDC-rumors broke, the current plan is for a September launch for the next-generation iPhone.
- Apple and Verizon have yet to strike a deal regarding FaceTime over 3G for the Verizon network. Keep in mind that 3G and 4G aren’t the same thing. < Don’t read into that too much. Or maybe do.
- Apple and Verizon are still working out kinks regarding support for iOS 5?s over-the-air updates, which we broke the news about, so carrier support may or may not be delayed past fall 2011.
They have also found references to 2 new iPhone models – N94 and N93 in the iOS 5 SDK. N94 is supposedly the iPhone 4 with the faster A5 processor found in iPad 2 also dubbed iPhone 4S. And this is the model that several high end iOS game developers reportedly got their hands on early.
Now N93 is the carrier version of N94 if you look at the previous launches. However, with Verizon CFO saying that the next iPhone would have a single GSM/CDMA chip, does this new model hint at a Sprint or T-Mobile iPhone 5?
It is quite possible that Apple could have a whole new iPhone 5 or release an iPhone 4S as a successor to the awesome iPhone 4.
We will bring you more news on the iPhone 5 release date as soon as we hear it.
