We reported earlier that the Indian carriers Bharti Airtel and Aircel have confirmed that the Apple iPhone 4 is finally launching in India in the “coming months”. There was no definite date or pricing, subsidies announced at that time.
iPhone 4 is now launching in India this Friday, May 27 2011. Aircel looks like the winner in this race with the iPhone 4 Indian launch.
Aircel is launching iPhone 4 for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
iPhone 4 16GB model – Rs. 34,500 ($763)
iPhone 4 32GB model – Rs. 40,900 ($905)
Aircel is offering a reverse-subsidized model – you pay the full cost upfront and receive credits upto the whole cost of the phone over 2 years with the monthly cell phone bill.
Check after the break for the detailed breakdown.
Airtel has been taking pre-registrations for a month now but Aircel has gotten ahead with the launch of this much awaited smartphone.
Would love to hear from our Indian readers on this launch in the comments. I know my brother is eyeing on one in Chennai.
