iTunes 9.1 has been released yesterday with iPad syncing support in lieu of the iPad launch on April 3. It also brings the new iBooks feature.
And there has been news circulating that the iTunes 9.1 breaks tethered sync for some jailbroken devices.
Fortunately, there is already a fix for Blackra1n jailbroken iPhones with sync issues after iTunes 9.1. Download Blackbreeze and run it on your computer and select Blackra1n RC3 to get a fixed Blackra1n. Jailbreak it with the blackra1n-fixed.exe and your sync issues will be taken care of.
In the meantime, Geohot – the original iPhone jailbreak hacker – has revealed that he has a successful untethered software jailbreak for all on 3.1.3. He hasn’t announced a release date yet but I think it will follow the release of Apple iPad if that can be jailbroken too.
Spirit – A Userland Jailbreak
There is a iPhone jailbreak in town. It’s called Spirit. So far the jailbreak has been targeting the bootrom and required software to jailbreak the device tethered or untethered.
A userland jailbreak like Spirit works just by visiting a website in Mobile Safari and tapping a link and you are jailbroken!
Spirit is supposed to work on iPhone OS 3.1.3 but again no release date has been announced.
Check out the above video circulating on the Internet on Spirit.
We will keep you posted as we get more information in the 3.1.3 jailbreak scene.
