Dev Team has released Redsn0w jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1. This jailbreak tool supports jailbreaking the following devices
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad 1st gen
- iPod Touch 3G/4G
If you rely on unlocking to use your iPhone, please don’t update to iOS 4.3.1 with iTunes. You have to use PwnageTool to create a custom ipsw file to keep your old baseband where ultrasn0w can unlock it.
Here are the easy steps for iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak
- Download iOS 4.3.1 firmware ipsw file to your computer
- Download Redsn0w for Windows or Mac. (v0.9.6rc12 Windows / Mac OS X ) (check with Dev Team for most recent updates before you download)
- Update your iOS firmware to 4.3.1 with iTunes (unlockers, don’t do this. Use PwnageTool instead)
- Launch Redsn0w and browse to the ipsw file you downloaded for your device
- After the ‘Processing firmware’ and ‘IPSW successfully verified’ messages, hit Next
- In the next screen, Choose ‘Install Cydia‘
- Make sure your device is powered off and plugged into the computer. If not, plug the device into the computer first and then hold the sleep button and slide to power off. Now, click Next.
- Now, follow the instructions on the screen aboiut holding the power button, home button and releasing. Follow the seconds clock on the screen. Don’t worry if you miss it the first time. You can try again.

Now, let the redsn0w work it’s magic on your iDevice. Hit Finish when done. (the jailbreak may proceed on your iPhone for a bit after the Finish comes on in the Redsn0w tool and that’s ok.)
When it’s done, look for the Cydia app installed in your iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad or iPod Touch. That indicates a successful jailbreak. Congratulations!
