I am tired of scrolling through pages and pages of apps in my iPhone.
If you have a jailbroken iPhone you might have tried to address this issue with the excellent Categories app. The introduction of Spotlight feature that made the jailbreak QuickGold app obsolete in iPhone OS 3.0 has helped this issue a lot.
PogoPlank is a cydia jailbreak app that replaces the iPhone’s traditional interface – Springboard with pages and pages of apps.
PogoPlank offers a wheel of categories in your iPhone home screen. You just wipe up or down to rotate the wheel to find the category you need. Then tap the category folder to pop up a list of apps in that category.
PogoPlank is themeable which means we will be seeing some cool themes that match with Winterboard themes in the future.
Future versions of PogoPlank promises right/left handed use, folder passwords and a developer API.
I would also like to see a way to still use Spotlight feature alongside PogoPlank. (may be it does but I am not sure) Also I wonder if it will have a folder that will hold all the apps that haven’t been categorized yet.
PogoPlank is an excellent attempt at resolving the issue where an iPhone or iPod Touch user ends up with pages and pages of apps.
There have been aother mockups and attempts at this such as this Expose like homepage (scroll down for my comments), cover flow for multi-tasking, etc.
PagePlank costs $1.99 and you can check out the Qik launch video to see it in action.
