I was a die-hard Remember the Milk online task manager app fan for a long time. Recently, I made the move to using Pocket Informant iPhone app and ToodleDo task manager for my GTD needs.
Remember the Milk iPhone app (RTM) was previously available only to RTM Pro users who paid $25/year. Even though the RTM web app was free for everyone, with the PRO adding more features, the iPhone app was off-limits to ‘free users’.
To my delight, I just noticed today that RTM has opened up their iPhone app to everyone including the free users.
However, there is one major gotcha with the iPhone app for free users. You get to sync with your web based account from your account manually only once a day.
The PRO account holders will get to sync their iPhone and web unlimited number of times.
Also, RTM Push notifications for tasks are available only for the PRO users.
But, given how solid an interface Remember the Milk provides through its web interface and the iPhone, this free version will let more users test the waters. If you liked the service enough, you could always upgrade to the PRO version through an in-app purchase.
I can see the Apple AppStore driving a lot of users who were previously unaware/weren’t able to try to Remember the Milk.
In fact, I might actually try to get back into RTM more with this development. How about you?
