WackaMonsta was created by DanLabGames and is a free universal game for the iOS devices. This is a match-three puzzle game with a pretty straightforward concept. There will be bubbles that will slowly move down the screen and you will have to shoot bubbles from a monster on the bottom to match three of the same color.
The first thing you will notice when you start the game is the graphics and animation. Visually, everything is well polished from the vibrant backgrounds, shiny bubbles and more. The sound effects are well designed but the music on the other hand was really annoying and really reminiscent of the 15-second loops you hear at a Circus.
WackaMonsta will have four different modes of play. First, Surf & Sun mode introduces players to a level type gameplay. Once you clear all the bubbles from the screen you will move up a level. In every level the bubbles will appear in different shapes and designs which somewhat alters your strategy in deciding what bubbles you need to get rid of first.
Second, Chili Bubbles will have bubbles on each level that will have little red chili peppers. Shooting a bubble at a chili pepper bubble will result in all the bubbles horizontally turning red.
Third is the Zen Garden mode that will slowly increase the speed and introduce new colors and finally the Forrest Gums mode will have unlimited bubbles for those of you who love to beat their own high scores. But a problem with these four modes is that there were only slight differences between them and didn’t really add any exciting gameplay.
Bubbles can either hurt or help you. As you continue in your bubble popping adventure, the game will introduce things such as skulls, rainbow bubbles and new colors to make gameplay more difficult. For example, hitting a skull will summon a lightning bolt and change the color of the bubbles surrounding it. Conversely, Rainbow bubbles can help you and will make the bubbles around it the same color. In addition, some of the bubbles will have coins and after you collect a certain amount you’ll be able to buy upgrades such better monsters and accessories that can be used to improve your total score.
In conclusion, WackaMonsta doesn’t have any kind of “out of the box” gameplay as I have already seen many games like this before. But it should be fine for casual gamers and being available for free doesn’t hurt you at all for trying it out.
