WordPress iOS app has seen a nice update that includes a bunch of new features as well as over 100 bug fixes.
This app saw a major architectural change in the previous months and was followed by heavy criticism due to all the bugs that was introduced with that major change.
However, the WordPress team has steadily been at work listening to the community and have been fixing bugs as well push out major usability changes as well.
WordPress for iOS app just has a version 2.7 out in the App Store.
The main focus of this update seems to improve performance and reliability. One of the major changes is to use Core Data which is a better way to handle information locally on the iPhone. You can see all the 117 changes here.
WordPress iOS UI Improvements
- Pull to refresh – a must have feature for any iOS app anymore
- A new UI for write screen – I really like the media bar and the workflow introduced by this UI change. Plus, the ability to upload multiple photos at once is just superb.
- Emails and URLs in the comments are tappable
From my brief testing since last night, the app seems a little snappier and hasn’t crashed on me. That is a good sign for this app.
If you use WordPress for iOS on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, update to 2.7 now. The reliability improvements alone is worth the effort.
